Cookie Harrist

Cookie Harrist (she/they) is a dance teacher and choreographer based in Denmark, Maine. She is so grateful to be a part of the incredible community at JLDC. Cookie danced professionally for many years in the San Francisco Bay Area with renowned choreographers and dance companies such as Joe Goode Performance Group, Sara Shelton Mann, LEVY Dance, Public Movement, NAKA Dance Theater and many more. Cookie has always had an immense love for dance class, both as a student and teacher, and has made teaching dance her focus for over 15 years. She was previously on faculty at the two largest centers of contemporary dance in the Bay Area, ODC School and Shawl Anderson Dance Center, and trained pre-professionals to high success in competition dance at ASI Dance Elite in Fremont, California. Cookie specializes in contemporary dance, floorwork, release technique and improvisation but has a love for all dance styles. Cookie attended NYU Tisch School of the Arts as a part of the BFA in Acting program before changing her focus solely to dance and transferring to Marlboro College in Vermont for a more alternative education. She holds a Bachelors in Dance and Poetry.
