Katie started singing at the age of two. Growing up,
music was always prevalent in her home seeing as her
parents' courtship began in a high school choir and
continued through their membership in the Mormon Tabernacle
Choir. As a child Katie found herself rehearsing the choir
music along with her parents. She learned many priceless
lessons through her association with the Mormon Tabernacle
Choir. She was able to travel with them on several occasions
and witness first hand the "behind the scenes" vocal
instruction and production processes.
Katie obtained her music degree through attending both
Utah State University and the College of Eastern Utah--
taking private voice lessons from her professors, served as
the perfect preparation for her chosen profession, which she
had known would be teaching voice, since middle school.
She's been teaching private voice and piano lessons for 8+
years now and loves every minute of it. She was both the
vocal coach and music director in the youth productions of
"Peter Pan" and "Fiddler on the Roof" put on by the Lehi
Arts Council, Some of her favorite musicals are "Les
Miserables" and "Sound of Music". She has vowed to keep the
arts alive here at Axis Dance and “Performing Arts” Center. |
